Site Showcase: Breaking Boundaries, LLC
We are so happy to share one of our member's work with you today! Jodi Neunfeld is one of our founding members, and we love working with her. She always is so awesome at working on taking sites and giving them life. Here's one of her latest on the Mercer template.
Why did you choose that template?: Mercer is one of my new favorite templates! It is much like Pacific, but more flexible. I wanted a template that had index pages and the ability to have banner text over the images. Mercer allows you so much flexibility in what you place over your banner images and where you place it.
What was the Client's Objective?: They are a new start up company focused on streamlining business procedures for financial advisors and wanted a site to market their services.
Tell us a bit about the design process?: There was already a logo and brand colors in place to work with and they had a lot of content that was text only. I worked with them to find some photos that they can use until they are able to get some of their own photography on their site. I was given free rein to design as I wanted.
How did you help the client differentiate their business through design?: Because the site was mostly text, I had to be creative in ways to present it without it looking boring or being hard to read. The use of typography, colors, and columns helped to break up the text and make it more visually appealing. I also added some custom graphics to add some interest.
Is there custom development? What about custom added CSS? Can you tell us why you did or did not use these edits?: I did use some custom CSS for styling of some typographic elements as well as styling the "content link" elements on the homepage that link to their services. I also styled the banner overlay background colors and text size and colors.
What are the top three creative features you used in the design?: Typography, graphic elements and layout of text
Oh my gosh, we love everything about this amazing Squareapace site design on Rally by our good friend Peyton over at Peyton Campbell Studio! The popping color, the clean imagery, the dynamic off-centered elements, everything. It feels fresh, modern and playful - everything a cotton candy website should do!
I am just absolutely loving these site showcases lately. What's even more lovely, is to see someone who took one of our signature classes. Marie has used CSS in her site designs for a while, but to see the little details go from great to absolutely brand perfect is really quite fun.
