Site Showcase: Cottonsmith

Oh my gosh, we love everything about this amazing Squareapace site design on Rally by our good friend Peyton over at Peyton Campbell Studio! The popping colour, the clean imagery, the dynamic off-centered elements, everything. It feels fresh, modern and playful - everything a cotton candy website should do! See more of Peyton's awesome work by clicking through to her website at the bottom of this post. We're off to go order some cotton candy!

Square Design Guild | Squarespace Site Showcase: Cottonsmith | Professional Website on Rally

Template Chosen: Rally (Brine)

Why did you choose that template?: I chose Rally (Brine) because it offers a lot of flexibility for unique design elements -- there is just so much you can do with the template!

What was the Client's Objective?: Mandi wanted a playful and modern site -- a place for people to learn about Cottonsmith services and flavors.

We are obsessed with the use of colour blocks on the flavours page!

Tell us a bit about the design process?: The design process with Mandi was not only so fun, but such a breeze. She reached out to me about designing a site for her new business, and I was more than thrilled to tackle such a fun project! Mandi had a clear vision of what she was looking for, and it was so fun for the both of us to see it come to life!

How did you help the client differentiate their business through design?: Mandi wanted her site to be not only fun + captivating, but to also set her apart from others in her industry. I believe we created a site that truly does all three!

Is there custom development? What about custom added CSS? Can you tell us why you did or did not use these edits?: No custom development was used, but quite a bit of CSS! My favorite CSS addition is the vertical social navigation tab, which Meg did a tutorial on recently through SSDG. I was itching to implement a vertical navigation into a site, and this was truly the perfect one for it!

What are the top three creative features you used in the design?:
1) Bold Text, Bold Colors + Layering
2) Banner Images
2) Brine Template Edits
