Site Showcase: Pace Creative Design Studio
One of my favorite parts of Squarespace Site Showcase submissions are getting to know new people! Jennifer's hand-drawn illustrations and clear business-portfolio combination are stellar! All the little details show her style and branding off to a tee! Thanks so much for your submission Jennifer. See her awesome designs on Pace Creative Design Studio below.
Why did you choose that template?: What is so nice about Squarespace is that there are a ton of beautiful and clean templates. I ended up choosing Bryant because of banner image features and I felt like the overall framework fit with the aesthetic that I was going for.
What was the Client's Objective?: For this project I was my own client, which can be challenging. My goal was to move from a "traditional portfolio" site to more of a business website.
Tell us a bit about the design process?: Like with all my projects, I started with the research and sketching phase. I researched different websites to see the flow of content. Then I begin sketching out the wireframes to give me a good idea of what the site hierarchy was going to be. Next I created some fun illustrated graphics to use throughout the site.
How did you help the client differentiate their business through design?: My whole business is about design and I knew I needed a site that highlighted my skills. Adding the fun illustrations throughout gave my website more personality and spoke to who I am as a designer.
Is there custom development? What about custom added CSS? Can you tell us why you did or did not use these edits?: I am not a developer, but I do know enough HTML and CSS to be able to play around with customizing the site. I mostly used custom CSS when it came to changing the style of links and different content blocks on the different pages.
What are the top three creative features you used in the design?: 1. Custom Illustrations 2. Brand Details 3. Use of banner images especially on the Featured Projects sections
Oh my gosh, we love everything about this amazing Squareapace site design on Rally by our good friend Peyton over at Peyton Campbell Studio! The popping color, the clean imagery, the dynamic off-centered elements, everything. It feels fresh, modern and playful - everything a cotton candy website should do!
I am just absolutely loving these site showcases lately. What's even more lovely, is to see someone who took one of our signature classes. Marie has used CSS in her site designs for a while, but to see the little details go from great to absolutely brand perfect is really quite fun.
