Squarespace Design Guild | Site Showcase | Alyssa Joy & Co - Sarah Lehberger Site Fulton Template

Sarah Lehberger

by Alyssa Gordon at Alyssa Joy & Co

Template Chosen: Fulton

Why did you choose that template?: In this case we really wanted to take advantage of the great parallax features on the Fulton template!

What was the Client's Objective?: Sarah's client focus was changing a bit from a more broad (we're talking super talented published photographer here!!) photography focus to a very sweet niche - photographing unstoppable women and their families which came with a full rebrand and new site design!

Tell us a bit about the design process?: First we started at the ground floor with Sarah sharing with me her ideal client and the vision she had for her businesses new look and feel. What Sarah does called for a brand that evoked emotion and showed the strong and powerful women she aims to work with! Once we had the brand nailed down and the marketing materials were designed, then came bringing that beautiful strong brand throughout her site! Now a days with people sadly being quick passerby's of daunting paragraphs, we knew that we had to find a way to draw people into the text (that was necessary and oh so important for them to engage with!) with images intermingled as well as using hierarchy. So we set to designing a beautiful parallax themed site.

How did you help the client differentiate their business through design?: Here at Alyssa Joy & Co. we are super big into branding, cause well that's what we do! SO, our biggest tactic in setting business apart from the crowd is really bringing their brand strongly across their web presence too! So, this site was no different, you will see the crown of Sarah's brand as incorporated throughout Sarah's site as well as her strong branding colors that bring a cohesive look all across the board. We also have a very button focused site on our hands with this one feature call to action buttons on each page!

Is there custom development? What about custom added CSS? Can you tell us why you did or did not use these edits?: No custom development was used on this site and very little CSS, just a few snippets to add some special brand color boarder is all! I try to use a minimal amount of custom coding unless requested specifically by my clients, because I want all of my clients to have the ease of maintaining and updating their site going forward and if I can't understand that gibberish (that's what my coding master connections are for!) then I can't expect them to either! We can still create a beautiful site without custom CSS!

What are the top three creative features you used in the design?:

  1. There is just something I LOVE about the "tickets" as Sarah and I called them on the bottom of her home page. Sarah's work is all about preserving and sharing these powerful women's stories for generations to come and so we felt like drawing visitors in with a story of who those women are was something integral to her site and we used this format to break up the text and draw in our readers. And of course represent the brand ;)
  2. I feel like we really rocked the parallax feature on this site design! It really brought this site to life and brought important information and beautiful images into one pretty package!
  3. Buttons, buttons and more buttons! We wanted people to be drawn to all the important information Sarah wanted to share with her potential clients and what better way than with bright colored (brand colors, of course!) call to action buttons on every page!
