Site Showcase | Gallery 293
Template Chosen: Bedford
Why did you choose that template?: I chose Bedford because the layout was closest to how the site was laid out previously in WordPress, had a nice blog layout with sidebar and a nice way to display a portfolio.
What was the Client's Objective?: Business Awareness and Appointment Booking
Tell us a bit about the design process?: The website was previously built on WordPress, but had security issues and the backend was constantly out of date. So we decided to move the site to SquareSpace, keeping as many design similarities to how the WordPress website looked as possible. I basically translated the WordPress design to SquareSpace as closely as I could.
How did you help the client differentiate their business through design?: Many custom picture framing websites are very outdated looking and not well designed. By having a well designed website, that is automatically one differentiator, but it also helps to attract Gallery 293's ideal client who is willing to invest in high quality custom picture framing and has an eye for design (both interior and in general).
Is there custom development? What about custom added CSS? Can you tell us why you did or did not use these edits?: Yes, I did use some custom CSS in order to make some subtle changes that helped to achieve the overall look we were going for and to get it to match as closely as possible to the previous WordPress hosted site.
