Template Chosen: Mojave

Why did you choose that template?: I love the parallax option, and the ability to really use it as a blank slate. I also love that it has the option to have the two sub pages that are my services directly under my logo which gives my user is easy access to those important pages.

What was the Client's Objective?: Up-level my brand and business to attract my ideal client. I also wanted to showcase some of the fun things you can do with a SquareSpace site!

Tell us a bit about the design process?: I offer a service called Go Live in 5 in which I create the website in just five days. We start on Monday and our live by Friday. Because I am so busy with client work, I basically did this for myself except I did it in closer to three days!

How did you help the client differentiate their business through design?: My design style is clean, creative solutions through bold, intentional design. I wanted to make sure that they showcased that through my site. I tried to create unique design elements that would stand out, that people would not have seen anywhere else. I wanted it to feel very editorial and unique for the online space.

Is there custom development? What about custom added CSS? Can you tell us why you did or did not use these edits?: I always add a bit of custom CSS to my websites. I find that this can really up-level a simple SquareSpace template. For this site I wanted to have some layering of text and imagery, but I wanted my text to still be text that Google could crawl for SEO (vs. an image of text). So I added some CSS to help overlay the text on the images.

What are the top three creative features you used in the design?: I focused on the bold text, layering and collages, and lots of clean, white space!

Anything else you want us to know about the site?: I want potential clients to come to my site and think, "Wow. I had no idea you could do any of this on a SquareSpace site." Because I think people think that SquareSpace is just a template and it's very basic, but there's obviously so much you can do with a SquareSpace site.

Vendors used?: Corrine Kensington Photography did my awesome brand photos and headshots.
