Client Site Description: Professional Website
Template Chosen: Rally
Why did you choose that template?: I LOVE the brine family of templates. The flexible header and advanced mobile styling is key to creating a gorgeous, mobile-responsive site.
What was the Client's Objective?: To showcase her services and book new clients
Tell us a bit about the design process?: Lizz and I worked together on her branding, a ton of digital collateral & her new online home. We wanted to create a fun , creative, editorial feeling to her site.
How did you help the client differentiate their business through design?: To help reinforce the editorial feeling, I added lots of typography details in a fashion-friendly serif font. These typography details are carried throughout her site & collateral.
The goal was to position Lizz as both forward-thinking, but also fun and creative in her approach.
Is there custom development? What about custom added CSS? Can you tell us why you did or did not use these edits?: So many edits! The typography details are all coded in with CSS, we also uploaded a non-Squarespace font to keep her brand consistent. The hover effects on her services are also CSS driven. You can also see the CSS work in the image background textures, captions that run up the side of the image versus under it, and the text block background colors.
We also moved a few header items around to sit on the border of the site as people scroll. The tagline & services work to create a framework along the sides of the site while also giving potential clients access to the work with me section from any point on the site.
What are the top three creative features you used in the design?:
1. typographic details
2. hover effects on the services links
3. creative header stylings
