Site Showcase: Lux Lake
It is not often we get to do this around here! Today we get to showcase a DIY site :) This gorgeous site caught our eye and shows just how great Brine really is. I mean you can't argue here, it showcases services, blogs, gorgeous photography ... while giving structure AND flexibility.
Client Site Description: Food Blog
Template Chosen: Margot
Why did you choose that template?: It felt really clean, easy to navigate and I loved the mix of white space paired with large moving images.
What was the Client's Objective?: I wanted my site to be authentically me and emulate my personality and personal style which is classic mixed with bohemian.
Tell us a bit about the design process?: I have been working and reworking this site for the last couple of years. It is a continuous work in progress and will continue to evolve as I do. I wanted every detail to be on brand and showcase my love for food and health but also my passion for art and creativity.
How did you help the client differentiate their business through design?: In the health and food business, it is all about setting yourself apart. I want to help women achieve their health goals and a way I do that is by being as real and honest with them as possible. I wanted my site to look attractive and professional but I also wanted to avoid seeming pretentious or impersonal. So I use my own photography and do all the work on my own, which may not be the best out there but since it's all coming from me, it seems really genuine.
Is there custom development? What about custom added CSS? Can you tell us why you did or did not use these edits?: I did not use added CSS. Mostly because I don't know code yet. However, I did do a lot of research on how to personalize every little detail with Squarespace and so I think I am a prime example of that you don't need to know it all or be a professional in order to make a beautiful website.
What are the top three creative features you used in the design?: I love the Banner feature that moves as I scroll down my page and the scrolling Gallery on my homepage. It looks so professional and adds great movement and depth to the site.
This is also a simple one, but I am obsessed with adding in Spacers. I have tons of invisible spacers all over my website and they're just wonderful with helping me add in white space and perfectly designing the layout.
Anything else you want us to know about the site?: Lux Lake is my baby. I love the site that I built but I also love the fact that it has turned into a place of inspiration for women who want to become better, more healthy versions of themselves.
Vendors used?: Just me.
