Site Showcase: Occasional Details
Hey everyone, happy Friday! Today we have a fun site for you from one of our founding members Jodi Neufeld. She always does such a fabulous job with her clients sites. I love the way she never misses a detail! (bad pun intended) This one is no different, check it out :)
Template Chosen: Clay
Why did you choose that template?: I liked the flexibility of it and how easy it was to customize.
What was the Client's Objective?: She wanted an easy way to sell retail items for home decorating. Her inventory is seasonal so she wanted to be able to update her products by herself 4 times a year. Squarespace was the perfect choice for her!
Tell us a bit about the design process?: Since she already had a logo designed and she new exactly what she wanted, we started working with her ideas. She was really wanting a minimalistic site, but I was able to show her that she needed some colors and graphics to make her site stand out and be memorable. I gave her some suggestions which she was open to and the site evolved from there.
How did you help the client differentiate their business through design?: I designed custom graphics to use throughout the site. The site header is a collage of her current seasonal products. A custom graphic was used as a divider that ties in with her logo.
Is there custom development? What about custom added CSS? Can you tell us why you did or did not use these edits?: There is some custom CSS for styling the blockquote, the footer and social media icons as well as a few other text elements. She definitely wanted the gold touch throughout and had some specific requests that were not possible just using the Design Editor.
What are the top three creative features you used in the design?: Typography, graphics, custom header
