Site Showcase: Project Mother Co.

This site showcase comes right in time for your holiday weekend for July 4th! This site has to be one of my favorite of 2017 so far, because of the bright bold colors. It helps when the client has worked with some of the best designers out there (Alli and Kadie from Dropcap Design) and have incredible passion and dedication for their company, as well as an amazing photographer and business coach. You seriously couldn't ask for a better combination and dream team.

Client's Site Description: Subscription Box and Membership Site

Template Chosen: Brine

Why did you choose that template?: For these clients, we had a pretty complex need for a header, so that they could have their audience really have a minimal but VERY organized experience. This was paramount that we had two locations at least for information, so Brine is really the only choice in that matter. Having primary and secondary nav is the reason why this site header works.

What was the Client's Objective?: To take their new branding by Dropcap Studio and really make that a full website experience. The site needed to be simple and bold, and very detail oriented. Since they have a previous community, blog, and website to integrate into a brand new service as a subscription box it had to WOW their audience.

Tell us a bit about the design process?: For this project, I was working in collaboration with Drop Cap Design Studio, and their designer AlliK had just finished up the design process. They had developed an incredible color palette, texture and art direction. We wanted to be sure any bold elements really complemented their design and didn't detract, so we went bold, but not overly complicated. With a great brand in hand, we started with a sitemap to figure out where we needed to really dive into the process, and then go straight into flat mockups where we focused on the Home, About, Subscribe and Blog pages. With that in mind the client was able to go into their upcoming photoshoot (we used old photos as examples for the mockup) with confidence. We built the site in full for them, and launched. The process with a full flat mockup process and a great brand with sitemap communication really is incredible in it's process of it working extremely well. It allows for communication and strategy, but not too much for the clients who can't see what wireframes really mean for their site.

How did you help the client differentiate their business through design?:  Color! We went BOLD yet minimal with color in a really modern and graphic way. We also made really fun Menu Block design that the client can easily update for their subscribe section. We also had some serious fun on the testimonial blocks, as well as the about page with the text that is tied to the sides of the page.

Is there custom development? What about custom added CSS? Can you tell us why you did or did not use these edits?: No custom development, but tons of CSS. It's hard to choose just one spot where the custom CSS stands out. The site would look completely different without it!

What are the top three creative features you used in the design?:  The grid index blocks with texture and color for the home page. The fun card image blocks for the testimonials, and the menu blocks for the subscribe sections!
